Bruce Springsteen has agreed to return as a headline
act at London's Hard Rock Calling festival despite organisers pulling the plug
on his show last year after it over-ran.
He will play
again with The E Street Band at the event's new location at the Olympic Park
this summer.
Kasabian will
also headline, playing their only UK festival.
Other
performers over the final weekend in June include Paul Weller, The Black Crowes
and Klaxons.
Springsteen and
Sir Paul McCartney had their microphones turned off last year before they could
thank the crowds, after they exceeded the three-hour time limit for the Hyde
Park gig.
The plug was
pulled in order to comply with late-night noise restrictions.
E Street Band
guitarist Steve Van Zandt said afterwards the UK had become a "police
state" and London Mayor Boris Johnson criticised "an excessively
efficacious decision".
Event promoter
Live Nation lost the contract for gigs in Hyde Park in November, ending a
10-year link it had with The Royal Parks.
It secured the
Olympic Park as the venue to host a number of its concerts in January.
Springsteen's
show will take place on 30 June, with The Black Crowes supporting.
Kasabian, whose
repertoire includes Club Foot, Empire and Fire, will play on 29 June with
Weller, Klaxons, The Cribs and Tribes supporting.
